perennial garden Welcome to Roane Grown

Growing in the heart of Roane County, West Virginia

I grow a wide variety of herbaceous perennials and herbs that I hope will find a home in your garden. Since just which plants those will be is a very personal choice, I try to offer as much information as I can to help you decide. If you are new to gardening, you may want to visit pages listed in the "Plant Information" box at the left of the page. Check out this years featured plants below:

Purple BeeBalm - great new color with mildrew resistance.

Dwarf Goldenrod - forget the hay-fever myth and get this fall flower in your garden.

Korean Feather Reed Grass - nice soft plumes with a touch of pink. Early blooming.

Red Fountain Grass -the medium height and arching form of pennisetum with a smoky purple plume.

Don't miss this years' great new plants - New This Year.

Take advantage of overstocked plants in the Specials section.

We have a nice selection of Native Plants also.

There is detailed info in the Orders & Shipping section. Our goal is to exceed your expectation - please let us know if we do not.

Herb shipping: Most of the herbs are grown from seed and timed for my retail sales so they are best shipped in May. I can ship them sooner but they will, of course, be smaller. If you order herbs that fall into this group, I'll contact you and we'll work it out. I don't ship herbs in the fall.

NOW TAKING ORDERS FOR SPRING 2012.
I'll be adding plants so check back often.

A word about sizes and pricing: Our plants continually flow from starts, into various sized pots, bumped up to larger pots, into the ground, then divided again. Sizes change from year to year.

Price is based on several factors: size of the plant; availability & demand, propagation results, and source (i.e. patented plants are purchased every year). So, pricing tends to look like this:

Perennials: Divisions and small pots (4", qts.) $5.00-$6.50; Established gallon pots and select varieties $6.50-$8.00; Selected varieties $10.00 & up. First year from seed in 3" pots - $3.00

Herbs: Potted herbs (2"-3") $1.50-$3.00; Larger pots (4", qts.) and select herbs $5.00-$6.50.

(Of course, there are exceptions)

Bottom Line: Our goal is to exceed your expectation - please let us know if we do not.
